Description
Part of Jacques Jarrige’s celebrated Fiori series, this sculptural table lamp is a poetic expression of light, form, and gesture. Each lamp is hand-cut and twisted from a single continuous sheet of brass—a process in which no material is discarded. Through a seamless transformation, the flat metal plane is animated into a three-dimensional composition, full of rhythm and life.
The brass is not merely shaped but drawn into space, much like a line in a sketch that moves intuitively across the page. Jarrige cuts directly into the material, leaving every strip attached, then coaxes them upward and outward, twisting and curving them into organic, unfolding forms. The result evokes the blooming of a flower or the unfurling of leaves, without resorting to literal representation. The gesture is abstract, yet unmistakably botanical—resonant with vitality.
Each lamp is unique, its form shaped by the particular energy of the artist’s hand. The surface of the brass is subtly textured by hammer marks and the movement of the cut, allowing light to glide over its planes in shimmering, unpredictable ways. When lit, the lamp becomes even more expressive—casting delicate shadows and reflections that animate the surrounding space.
The Fiori series is inspired in part by the botanical photography of Karl Blossfeldt, whose close-up studies of plants revealed the architectural intelligence of nature. Jarrige channels that spirit here, letting the raw material tell its own story through movement, transformation, and light.
Each lamp is signed by the artist. While two are currently available, each is a one-of-a-kind work and can be adapted or commissioned in different finishes or scales upon request.
Whether placed on a desk, pedestal, or bedside table, the Fiori lamp functions not only as a source of light, but as a radiant sculpture—an object that brings beauty, poetry, and presence into any space. -
