Description
This stunning Art Deco Revival torchiere was created circa 1975 in the United States. It features an Eileen Gray inspired base that features an open circular form created by a single curled rod of chrome that traces the floor stopping short of completing the circle. The bending rod instead extends towards the middle at a right angle creating both a visually dynamic and supportive stand. The rod extends upwards towards the ceiling where it culminates in three stacked concave chrome shades that connect to a conical neck. Skyscraper style detailing in translucent vitrolite sit between the neck and the shades offering a beautiful tonal and material counterpoint to the chrome elements. With its clean modernist lines and monochromatic palate, this piece would be a winning addition to any style of interior from classic Art Deco to contemporary. It has been newly rewired to American standards and is in excellent vintage condition.
