Description
Gilbert Rohde Occasional Table Model 4187. Rare Gilbert Rohde Paldao Group biomorphic occasional table on tapered leatherette wrapped legs having the table top of book matched acacia veneer. A fantastic collectable Gilbert Rodhe for Herman Miller Paldou group occasional side table in very good condition. Some restoration to the edge veneer over time. This is a spectacular occasional table, an iconic piece from one of the most important American Designers of Modern Furniture. Rohde's association with Herman Miller Furniture company, a collaborative relationship whose significance proved to be historic, began in 1932. The Success of Rohde's designs for Herman Miller, many of which remained in production for five to ten years demonstrated that mass production had the potential to spread modernism. Beyond product design, Rohde's influence at Herman Miller, encompassing marketing, publicity, and industrial operation-redefined the designers role in the industry.
