French 19th Century Mahogany Bibliotheque

Sold Sold
  • Description
A unique and interesting mahogany bibliotheque from 19th Century France. The bookcase is split into two bodies: a glass-front upper and a lower bank of drawers. The upper body retains its original glass and is accessed using its lock and key. The interior is lined with a patterned wallpaper that gives the antique an individual style that is all its own. Inside are three shelves which can be adjusted to suit your needs. The lower body is composed of a bank of two large drawers. The drawers are equipped with outstanding brass pulls, cast in the form of ram heads with the rings in their mouths. Shaped and styled brass escutcheons ornament the keyholes, however there are no working locks present. The drawer fronts are finished in mahogany veneer which has been set in a linear, rectangular fashion that integrates perfectly with the mahogany veneer that finishes the upper body. Be sure to view the detailed images for a close look at the current condition of this antique.
