Description
Pair of 'Grecian Fire' Hand Wrought Sterling Silver Candle Holders by Alan Adler
$8,975.00
This rare pair of silver candle holders is made by the designer Allen Adler. Adler is well respected as one of the greatest American silver designers in history; his work was included in major museums and private collections worldwide. His designs are innovative, meticulously detailed and show influences from local cultures while maintaining the highest standards of craftsmanship and quality. This pair of candle holders have a beautiful cross form base with rectangular angled supports rising to carefully graduated basins surrounding the candle openings, entirely composed of sterling silver. Tenuous and brilliantly scaled, these are in the form of Ancient Greek Olympic torches and powerful allusions to ancient rituals involving flame contained in a classic form, yet uncompromising attention to detail and craft. In Excellent Vintage Condition.
