Description
An elegant example of Charles Schneider's celebrated Art Deco glasswork, this vase was produced at his renowned Épinay-sur-Seine glassworks, one of the leading French art glass ateliers of the interwar period. The vase takes a classical baluster silhouette, with a gently flared, ruffled rim narrowing into a shapely neck before swelling into a full, rounded body.
The piece is worked in Schneider's signature "filetes" (threaded) decor, with fine vertical striations running the length of the vase in a deeper gold-amber tone against a soft, frosted light blue ground — giving the surface a subtle, textured luminosity. At the lower body, the pale blue gives way to a rich cobalt blue application, an intentional and dramatic color break that is a hallmark of Schneider's production during this period. The vase is raised on a contrasting orange glass foot, adding a final vivid note of color to the piece.
The piece is signed "Schneider." -
