French 19th Century Walnut Empire Style Commode

Sold Sold
  • Description
A transitional Empire-style French mahogany commode from the 19th century, circa 1850. The stunning top walnut planks are in good antique condition with a few signs of wear. The apron houses a hidden drawer, free of hardware. Making up the body of the piece, three larger drawers are mounted with repousse floral escutcheon plates over the keyholes, using cast brass knobs for easy accessibility. No key is present to operate the locks. The drawer fronts showcase the unique grain patterns of the walnut, over 150 years of everyday use have left signs of wear on the facade, giving it a wonderful patina.
