Description
This elegant mid-century sofa is a true masterpiece by Brazilian manufacturer Móveis Bertomeu, crafted in the 1960s. The standout feature is the sculptural ribbed backrest, meticulously designed with tapered wooden slats held together by a sleek horizontal aluminum stem, creating a visually striking yet harmonious aesthetic. The veneered hardwood frame, featuring rounded corners and sturdy round wooden legs, showcases exceptional craftsmanship. Newly upholstered in textured off-white fabric, the generously padded cushions provide superior comfort and timeless sophistication. The armrests, gently overhanging the frame, add a refined softness to the geometric design. Clearly influenced by the works of Jorge Zalszupin, this sofa represents a rare and iconic piece of Brazilian modernist design.
